A violent clash between rival cults in Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, resulted in the death of a middle-aged man known as “Mosquito”. The victim, a member of the Aye confraternity, was found dead with severe injuries, including machete and gunshot wounds, and his left hand had been severed and taken away.
The Ogun State Police Command received a distress call on August 11, 2024, at around 11:40 p.m., reporting a confrontation between cultists along Ijagun Road. Responding to the call, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer found the victim lying in a pool of blood and discovered six expended cartridges at the scene.
The police evacuated the body and transferred it to Ijebu Ode State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This incident marks the third similar killing in the state in recent times, according to reports by Naijaloaded.
