Read How 14 Nigerians Died From Road Accident In One Month
No fewer than 14 persons have died in road accidents across Edo State in March 2025. Cyril Mathew, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), disclosed this information in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Benin City.
He reported that the fatalities resulted from 17 road accidents that occurred during the period under review throughout the State.
According to Mathew, 14 passengers lost their lives in these accidents, while 34 passengers sustained injuries, and a total of 94 passengers were involved.
The State Sector Commander attributed the accidents to several factors, including brake failure, overspeeding, dangerous driving, and phone use while driving, among others.
He warned motorists against over-speeding, drunk driving, night driving, and using their phones while driving, emphasizing that these behaviors could lead to serious accidents.
Mathew noted that the command has conducted numerous sensitization campaigns and has educated motorists and other road users on the importance of adopting a safety culture on the road to help save lives.
