Saudi Arabia Denies Visa Ban on Nigerians, Announces Temporary Suspension

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has clarified recent reports, stating that it has not imposed a visa ban on Nigerian citizens. Instead, the government has announced a temporary suspension of new short-term visa applications from 14 countries, including Nigeria, starting April 13 to June 11, 2025. The suspension affects tourist, business, and family visit visas only.

According to official reports, citizens from the affected countries who already hold valid visas are allowed to enter Saudi Arabia up until April 13, but must exit the country by April 29, 2025, to avoid penalties. The temporary measure is part of Saudi Arabia’s annual preparations for the Hajj pilgrimage, which typically draws millions of international visitors.

Importantly, the Hajj pilgrims from Nigeria traveling under licensed tour operators or through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) are not affected by the suspension. They will still be issued appropriate Hajj visas and are encouraged to continue with their travel plans as scheduled.

Saudi authorities urge the public to rely on official government channels and embassies for accurate updates. The suspension is expected to be lifted after the Hajj season concludes in June 2025.
