Unexploded Military Device Recovered Near NTA Damaturu Station
The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the safe recovery of an unexploded military-grade explosive device discovered behind the NTA Damaturu station along Potiskum Road.
The operation was carried out by the Bomb Disposal Unit (BOMPOL) on the evening of Monday, June 30, 2025, following a report from vigilant citizens.
According to Zagazola Makama, a respected security analyst who posted the update on X (formerly Twitter), the suspicious object was first spotted at around 6:15 p.m.
The Bomb Unit was immediately deployed to assess the situation and implement proper containment procedures.
Police sources revealed that the device was confirmed to be a military ordnance. It was technically recovered and transported under secure conditions for controlled demolition.
Preliminary findings suggest the explosive may have been abandoned by scavengers after it was accidentally unearthed at the location.
Thankfully, no injuries or property damage were reported during the operation.
Authorities have since secured the area and placed it under surveillance to maintain public safety.
