Yul Edochie Urges Tinubu to Prioritize Insecurity and Cost of Living Over 2027 Elections

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has issued a heartfelt message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to shift focus from political ambitions for the 2027 elections and instead address Nigeria’s growing economic hardship and security challenges.
In a recent Instagram post, Edochie emphasized the urgency of tackling the high cost of living and worsening insecurity that continues to affect the daily lives of Nigerians.
According to him, these two issues remain the most pressing concerns and should be the government’s top priorities.
He wrote: “To my dear President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, @officialasiwajubat. Please don’t let politicians distract you with 2027. We’re still in 2025. High cost of living and high rate of insecurity are still ravaging Nigerians.”
The actor, known for previously showing support for the current administration, had also recommended the revival of the cashless policy introduced under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He argued that the policy had a positive effect in curbing crime and reducing living costs.
This public call sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing skepticism and frustration over Edochie’s continued support for the current leadership.
Social media users questioned his sincerity and accused him of mockery, while a few praised him for finally addressing critical national issues.
Some believe that Edochie‘s comment signals a shift in his political stance, as it appears he may be distancing himself from the administration’s shortcomings.
Whether this marks a new chapter in his activism remains to be seen.
