South Peter released his new single titled “CHOCOLATE“.
The single (Chocolate) is inspired by the typical Nigerian dance scene with its groovy feel and what a typical Nigerian would refer to as “Shake Body”. It lays the template for minutes of head nodding and I dare say non stop dancing as its infectious sound is hard to miss.
Produced by C-Major who scarcely needs any introduction in the Nigerian music industry, this new single is South Peter’s recent release.
The all-new Highlife wave gets sampled on the track, ‘Chocolate’, with lines running on a platitude and an infusion of the steady Afro-Makossa feel but party rockers may care less, because all said it is a great tune that is sure to get you on your feet.
For an artist whose personality is calm, and unassuming, it’s safe to say that South Peter might have finally found his forte (Afrobeats) as this new experimentation is a kryptonite on his person.
Chocolate is a 3:06 in length but given the short attention span of the fans, the brevity sounds like the right thing to do especially with more songs being shorter by the day. The song is a proof of South Peter’s sonic dexterity. “Chocolate” runs heavy on drum and bassline with him deploying his falsetto vocals to the track.
His best moment would be when he sang “Wanting your body, give me something something, when go fit cure the kongi, Orekelewa Jekin ma soji…”
This promises to be one of the solid tracks of the first quarter of the year. A groovy song and something to keep your attention; South Peter ticks both boxes.
