NAPTIP Declares Speed Darlington Wanted Over Alleged Rape, Cyberbullying

NAPTIP Declares Speed Darlington Wanted

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially declared controversial Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted over serious criminal allegations.

The agency made the announcement via its verified Instagram account, citing multiple offenses including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

This follows the entertainer’s failure to respond to a prior invitation for questioning linked to a disturbing claim he made during a live Instagram video.

According to NAPTIP, Speed Darlington had allegedly boasted about engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl—a statement that immediately raised red flags and triggered a formal investigation.

Despite being summoned by the agency earlier in May 2025, the artist failed to appear. Authorities are now urging anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to contact them, as efforts to locate him intensify.

This declaration underscores the growing urgency in Nigeria’s digital space to hold public figures accountable for harmful behavior online. It also reinforces the reality that digital content—especially content involving minors or threats—can carry legal consequences beyond the screen.

The move by NAPTIP sends a clear message that the law is increasingly adapting to protect individuals from exploitation and abuse in both physical and digital environments.
