I did crazy things for music – Zinoleesky

Zinoleesky Reveals He Ran Away from Home to Pursue Music

In a candid interview with SB Live, Zinoleesky shared how his decision clashed with his Nigerian parents’ expectations.

According to him, many parents in Nigeria tend to push their children toward professional careers like medicine or engineering rather than creative paths like music.

Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you want to do stuff like music. They want you to do a professional course or learn a trade.

So, you just have to find a way. Me, I did some cr*z* stuff. I ran away from home to do music,” Zinoleesky revealed.

Known for his unique voice and street appeal, the Lagos-born artist started out as a rapper before switching to singing.

His freestyle videos began gaining massive attention online in 2017, making him a viral name on social media platforms.

There were speculations at one point that Zinoleesky turned down a record deal from Davido’s DMW label. However, he later signed with Naira Marley’s imprint, Marlian Music, in December 2019 — a move that would officially launch his commercial career.

Zinoleesky rose to stardom with the release of his debut project, Chrome Eccentric, which features standout tracks like ‘Ma Pariwo’ and ‘Kilofeshe’.

The album cemented his place as one of the fastest-rising stars in the Afrobeats scene.

As reported by TheNET.ng, Zinoleesky‘s journey reflects the bold decisions artists make to chase success. For more exclusive music content, check out our Music Section on GistsNaija.
