The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Mobolorunduro Mosque in the Imalenfalafia area of Oke-Ado.
According to reports, the man dropped his phone into the well. In an attempt to recover it, he fell inside and became trapped.
The situation quickly drew the attention of residents, who placed an emergency call to the Oyo State Fire Service.
The Chairman of the Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the rescue. He stated that the emergency call came in at exactly 6:10 a.m. Firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival of the residents, they found the old man trapped and immediately began the rescue operation.
The firefighters, following proper safety protocols and using the necessary equipment, successfully pulled the man out alive.
He was then handed over to his family for further care. The swift response by the fire service was commended by local residents, who praised their professionalism and courage in saving the man’s life.
