Four individuals – Zainab Abdullahi (26), Olanrewaju Mariam (25), Sulaimon Abdulatif (24), and Yehuza Jubril (23) – were arraigned before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday by the Lagos State Police Command, facing charges of fraud and felony.
According to the prosecution, led by Insp. Edet Ekpo, the defendants allegedly defrauded Abdul-Salam Idris of N1,600,000 by promising to secure him a spot at Manchester City Football Club in England, but instead used the funds for personal gain.
The charges contravene Sections 411, 314, and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Chief Magistrate N.A. Layeni granted each defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties, who must be company directors, and also required each surety to deposit N25,000 with the court.
