Father of Slain FUNAAB Student Cries Out for Justice One Year After Brutal Murder

One year after the tragic murder of Christiana Idowu, her grieving father has cried out to Nigerians, saying he is still in the dark about the case and fears justice may be denied.
Christiana, an 18-year-old 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB),
was killed in 2024 by her close friend, 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye, a philosophy student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).

According to reports, Ayomide lured her to his parents’ home in Ikorodu under the guise of repairing her phone. Tragically, he strangled her, buried her in a shallow grave, and shamelessly demanded ransom from her mother.
In his chilling confession, he admitted using part of the ransom money to settle personal expenses.
The police later arrested him after his confession, but since then, the family says there has been silence on the matter.
“Hello Nigerians. I am the father of late Christiana, who was murdered by a friend. It’s getting to a year now. The boy was arrested, but I have no identity concerning the case.
I’ve not heard anything about it.
Please, I’m helpless, I’m in the dark. I don’t know whether the boy has even been released.
Nigerians, please come to my aid, I can’t just allow my daughter to go like that.”
The heartbroken father, Mr. Idowu, is now appealing to Nigerians and relevant authorities to ensure his daughter’s case is not forgotten.

The incident has once again raised concerns about the slow pace of justice in cases involving violence against students and young people in Nigeria.
