Miner Crushed to Death by Falling Rock at Kabusa Mining Site in Abuja
A tragic incident occurred at a mining site in the Kabusa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Saturday, June 29, 2025, as a miner identified as Adam Bahago, popularly known as Peter, lost his life after being struck by a falling rock.
The site, owned by Inhui Mining Company, became the scene of the fatal accident at about 3:20 p.m. while the victim was excavating materials from the site.

According to eyewitnesses and site manager Brown Ekelechi John, Bahago, who hailed from the Koro ethnic group in Kaduna State, suffered multiple injuries after a large rock fell directly on his head. He was immediately rushed to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel sadly confirmed him dead on arrival.
His body has since been deposited in the mortuary, and his family has been officially informed of the incident, according to reports by Zagazola Makama.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the rock collapse may have been caused by weak structural integrity in the rock formation. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the lack of adequate safety enforcement in both artisanal and commercial mining operations within the FCT.
Mining continues to take place in several parts of Abuja, particularly in semi-urban and unregulated residential areas, exposing workers to hazardous conditions.
