According to an updated statement released by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), this change was necessary. Tinubu cancels planned national broadcast as he is expected to attend a special joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday.

The statement, signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF, confirmed that the president will now deliver his Democracy Day message directly from the National Assembly chambers.

Despite the cancellation of the national broadcast, all other Democracy Day activities will go on as previously planned. The government assures citizens that President Tinubu remains committed to commemorating the day and reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey.

His live address from the National Assembly is expected to highlight key national issues. Tinubu’s planned national broadcast cancellation will also cover democratic progress and outline the administration’s vision moving forward.
