President Tinubu Condemns Benue Violence, Calls for Unity and Swift Justice

President Bola Tinubu has issued a strong directive to Nigeria’s security chiefs. He is urging immediate action to restore peace in areas plagued by violence, with a special focus on Benue State.

The President condemned the ongoing bloodshed in the region, labeling the killings as inhuman and detrimental to national progress. He emphasized that the continued loss of lives must be halted. Moreover, he tasked security agencies with decisively arresting and prosecuting perpetrators on all sides of the conflict.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also called on Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia to take urgent steps in facilitating reconciliation among the warring groups.

He urged the governor to initiate immediate dialogue involving farmers, herders, and local communities. Tinubu stressed that peaceful coexistence can only be achieved through open dialogue,

mutual understanding, and sincere leadership from both political and community stakeholders.

The President further cautioned leaders in Benue against making inflammatory remarks or taking actions that could worsen tensions.

Instead, he appealed for a united approach to peacebuilding and reconciliation. He charged Governor Alia to rise as a true statesman by leading efforts to address grievances with fairness and justice.

Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety and unity of all Nigerians, stating that achieving lasting peace is possible when all leaders work together harmoniously.
