Thunderstrike Kills 70-Year Old Man
A tragic incident occurred in Abocho, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, where a 70-year-old man named Malam Abu Yusuf was struck and killed by lightning. The unfortunate event took place around 5:40 PM on Thursday during a heavy downpour in the community, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
The community of Abocho is reeling from the loss, as many are deeply affected by the sudden demise of Yusuf. His passing has cast a pall of sorrow over the local area, highlighting the unpredictable and devastating impact of natural occurrences.
Dansoho Sulaiman, a local resident, shared with DAILY POST that Malam Abu Yusuf was in good health prior to this unforeseen tragedy. His unexpected death serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerabilities communities face during severe weather conditions.
“Someone very close to the family just called to inform me of his death. There was a heavy downpour in Abocho in the afternoon up to this evening. He was outside and suddenly there was thunder and lightning.
“The fell victim and died. This has never happened in Abocho community. Although I heard it once happened in Anyigba, the people of Abocho are in shock with this sad news because he was hale and healthy up to this time. The deceased is the Imam of Angwa community.”
The deceased will be buried according to Islamic rites on Friday.
