Osayi-Samuel Optimistic About Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Qualification Chances
Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s rough start to the qualifying campaign.
The Fernabache player made this known during an interview at the final of the second edition of the Under-13 Bright Osayi Football Tournament, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Speaking with newsmen, Osayi-Samuel said the team is fully committed to turning things around. “I still think we can qualify. The aim is to win every single game.
We believe in our team,” he stated. He acknowledged that the road ahead won’t be easy but stressed that with the right mindset and unity, the team has what it takes to make a comeback.
The Super Eagles star also praised Head Coach Eric Chelle, calling him a fantastic tactician whose philosophy is resonating with the entire team. “For me, the coach is fantastic. The way he wants us to press and run, I think everyone in the team is aligned with his ideas,” he added.
He pointed to Nigeria’s recent performance against Russia — a team unbeaten in six or seven matches — as a sign of the team’s growing potential. Source: Daily Post Nigeria.
