Super Eagles Camp Hits 24 as Awaziem, Lawal Arrive Ahead of Egypt Friendly
The Super Eagles’ preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have received a major boost as the squad in Cairo, Egypt, continues to grow.
Chidozie Awaziem and Salim Fago Lawal arrived at the team’s base on Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of players in camp to 24. The duo arrived just in time to participate in the final Tuesday morning training session ahead of tonight’s high-profile international friendly.
Following their arrival in Egypt, the team held their first official training session at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday night. Head coach Eric Chelle has been focusing on tactical drills and player recovery as the team enters the final phase of its pre-tournament preparations.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Pharaohs of Egypt in an international friendly tonight, a match widely regarded as the ultimate test before the team heads to Morocco for the AFCON 2025 tournament.

With most of the invited players now available, Coach Eric Chelle has a near full-strength squad to select from for tonight’s encounter.
