Katsina Hisbah officials destroying confiscated alcoholic drinks in Bakori

The Katsina State Hisbah Board has destroyed a large quantity of confiscated alcoholic beverages in Bakori town, located in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday, December 14, 2025, by the Information Officer of the Hisbah Board, Abdul Baki Mustapha.

According to the statement, the destruction exercise was supervised by DC Bashir Lawal Balarabe, alongside other Hisbah commanders from the Funtua zone. A total of 75 cartons of alcoholic drinks and three jerrycans of Gogoro, a locally brewed alcoholic beverage, were destroyed during the operation.

The Hisbah Board explained that the action was aimed at curbing practices that contravene Islamic teachings and protecting societal moral values within the state.

Officials of the board described the exercise as part of their sustained campaign against prohibited substances, stressing that alcohol consumption and distribution remain unacceptable under the state’s religious laws.

The board further reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement across communities, warning that individuals involved in the sale or consumption of illegal substances would face strict consequences.
