Yobe Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Assault on Officer at FMC Nguru

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the assault of a police officer, Corporal Amani Ali, in Nguru Local Government Area.

 

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred on September 26, 2025 at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru. The officer was attacked while on duty, and his service rifle was taken away, leaving him unconscious and bleeding.

Police operatives swiftly launched a tactical operation that led to the recovery of the AK-47 rifle, magazines, and a knife jacket used during the attack. These items were found disposed of at separate locations around the Sabon Garin Kanuri swamp area.

Those arrested include Jarma Hussaini Adam (25) and Mohammed Abdusalam, also known as “Uzaifa” (16), both residents of Sabon Garin Kanuri, Nguru LGA. The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment and recovering from the assault.

In his statement, the PPRO described the incident as “an affront to the Nigeria Police Force by disgruntled elements,” stressing that any attack on police personnel will be treated as both a criminal act and an assault on constituted authority.
