Yeah, stup*d  weapon. I know.

The knock came again.

Slow.

Heavy.

Like a fist dragging across wood.

I pulled the wardrobe open—

Nothing.

Just clothes.

But the moment I turned around, something fell out — a small box wrapped in black cloth. I didn’t see it before.

I picked it up and removed the cloth.

It was an old key.

Attached was a tag:

“For the box in the floorboard.”

What box?

I bent down and started tapping the wooden tiles.

And then I found one that sounded hollow.

I pulled it open — and inside was a small metal box.

Same size as the one she once told me her father left behind before he vanished.

I used the key.

Inside were three things:

1. A blood-stained photo of her as a child

2. A name I’d never heard: “Moses Aluko”

3. A note in red ink:

“If he finds this before she’s ready, everything ends.”
